    AR grade orthoboric acid

    Orthoboric acid is white crystalline powder or colorless scaly or hexagonal triclinic crystal with a little pearly luster. It is soluble in water, alcohol, glycerin, ether and essential oil, no odor. It is extensively used in producing optical glass, acid-resistant glass, organic boron glass and other advanced glasses and glass fibers to improve heat resistance and transparency, improve mechanical strength and shorten the melting time of glass.

    Orthoboric acid is white crystalline powder or colorless scaly or hexagonal triclinic crystal with a little pearly luster. It is soluble in water, alcohol, glycerin, ether and essential oil, no odor. PH of 0.1mol/L aqueous solution is 5.1. 1g of orthoboric acid is soluble in 18ml cold water, 4ml boiling water, 18ml cold ethyl alcohol, 6ml boiling ethyl alcohol and 4ml glycerin. Relative density is 1.4347, melting point is 184℃(breaks down), boiling point is 300℃, half lethal dose (rat, peroal) is 5.14G/kG. It is toxic and irritant.
