It can be oxidized into peroxide, aldehydes and acetic acid under the action of the air. It is soluble in low carbon alcohol, benzene, chloroform, petroleum ether and oils, slightly soluble in water.
As an excellent solvent for oils, dyestuff, alkaloid, fat, natural resin, synthetic resin, nitrocellulose, hydrocarbon, linseed oil, petroleum resin, abietin, spice, and etc.Moreover, ether can be used as extractant and anesthetic in pharmaceutical industry; as detergent in wool spinning and cotton spinning industry; and in producing smokeless powder in gunpowder industry.
Keep in cool and well-ventilated place. Keep away from fire and heat sources. Separate from oxidants, halogen and acids.
